Abstrakt: This article presents abstracts of various studies related to blood transfusion. One study called "Comparison of Automated Red Cell Collection Systems," reports that blood centers are continually searching for more productive and efficient methods for collecting red cells. This study compared collection time, leukoreduction results and donor response to double red cell collections with Haemonetics MCS+ and Baxter's ALYX System. Another study reported that different whole blood donor conversion approaches have been undertaken that have produced various results. The intent of the pilot program "An Evaluation of Three Different Whole Blood Donor Conversion Approaches," was to evaluate three different approaches for converting existing Type A and AB whole blood donors to automated donations. Since the blood center tends to have an adequate supply of Type A and AB red blood cells, this group was target for platelet donations.
