Researchers from Utah State University have developed and tested online interventions for adults with trichotillomania, a condition characterized by compulsive hair pulling. The researchers evaluated the impact of phone check-ins on treatment adherence and efficacy of a web-based intervention. They found that check-ins did not improve adherence or efficacy of the program, but adherence to the program predicted treatment outcomes. The program was effective at reducing symptom severity and improving psychological inflexibility associated with trichotillomania. This research provides valuable insights into the development of online interventions for individuals with trichotillomania. [Extracted from the article] |
