A recent study conducted by researchers at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran examined the effects of clonidine and dexmedetomidine on hemorrhage control during functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). The study included 102 patients who underwent FESS and were divided into three groups: clonidine, dexmedetomidine, and placebo. The results showed that both clonidine and dexmedetomidine decreased mean arterial pressure, heart rate, and blood loss volume, while improving surgical field visualization. Dexmedetomidine also significantly improved surgeon satisfaction and reduced operating times. The study concluded that dexmedetomidine administration during FESS can provide balanced anesthesia, appropriate analgesia, and improve surgical outcomes. [Extracted from the article] |
