A recent study conducted by researchers at Capital Medical University in Beijing, China, explored the outcomes of endoscopic endonasal surgery (EES) for craniopharyngiomas (CPs) in elderly patients. The study compared various parameters, including patient and tumor characteristics, surgical outcomes, complications, and follow-up, between nonelderly and elderly patients. The results showed that EES is a viable treatment option for older CP patients, with appropriate perioperative management. The study also found that EES did not significantly increase mortality and was well tolerated by selected populations. [Extracted from the article] |
