A study conducted by researchers at the College of Medicine in Baghdad, Iraq, aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of using polyproline mesh in emergency ventral hernia repair. The study included 60 patients with complicated abdominal hernias who required emergency surgery. The patients were divided into two groups: one group underwent prosthetic mesh repair, and the other group underwent suture repair. The study found that the use of prosthetic mesh in emergency hernia repair was a feasible choice with a low risk of complications. [Extracted from the article] |
