A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan has found that endurance exercise training can remodel abdominal subcutaneous adipose tissue (aSAT) in adults with overweight or obesity. The study compared regular exercisers with overweight or obesity to non-exercisers with overweight or obesity and found that exercisers had higher capillary density, lower Col6a abundance, and fewer macrophages in their aSAT. Additionally, exercisers had a greater abundance of angiogenic, ribosomal, mitochondrial, and lipogenic proteins. The study suggests that regular exercise may play a role in preserving cardiometabolic health by remodeling aSAT structure and proteomic profile. [Extracted from the article] |
