A study conducted by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has found that chemically protected sodium butyrate (CSB) supplementation can improve anti-inflammatory and antioxidant capacities in piglets. The study investigated the effects of CSB supplementation on the gut mucosal immune, gut microbiota, and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in piglets. The results showed that high CSB supplementation improved average daily gain by 18.5%, upregulated the expression of certain genes related to inflammation and antioxidant activity, and increased the levels of SCFAs-producing bacteria and SCFAs in the chyme of piglets. The study suggests that CSB supplementation can enhance the gut health of piglets. [Extracted from the article] |
