A recent report from the Royal Hospital in Muscat, Oman discusses the case of a 13-year-old boy who developed encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis (EPS) after undergoing long-term peritoneal dialysis. EPS is a rare complication of peritoneal dialysis that significantly increases morbidity and mortality. The patient's condition improved after transitioning to hemodialysis, receiving treatment with steroids and Tamoxifen, and undergoing a deceased donor kidney transplant. The report emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis and intervention for effective management of EPS in children. [Extracted from the article] |
