A report from University College Dublin explores the motivations and consequences of methamphetamine use among Nigerian users. The study found that users were often initiated into methamphetamine use through friendship networks or drug dealing. Motivations for use included staying awake for online businesses, enhancing energy for manual work, and improving sexual drive. However, users also reported adverse effects such as irritability, violent behavior, and psychiatric disorders. Stigma was identified as a significant barrier to accessing treatment, highlighting the need for interventions that address this issue. [Extracted from the article] |
