Abstrakt: A study conducted by researchers at the University of Oslo has uncovered new information about the role of transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-b1) in osteoblast maturation. The study found that TGF-b1 inhibits osteoblast maturation by stimulating the secretion and activity of legumain, a lysosomal protease. Additionally, TGF-b1 enhances the internalization and activation of extracellular prolegumain. These findings provide a deeper understanding of the regulation of osteoblastogenesis and offer insights for potential therapeutic interventions for bone diseases associated with abnormal TGF-b1 signaling.
