A recent study conducted by researchers at Universite Paris Cite in Paris, France, focused on the treatment of malignant PEComas, a rare subtype of soft tissue sarcomas, using immunotherapy. The study presented a case of a patient with perirectal PEComa and liver metastasis who was treated with pembrolizumab and everolimus, resulting in a near-complete response of the primary tumor and a partial response of the metastasis. The researchers concluded that checkpoint inhibitors may be an effective therapeutic strategy for patients with malignant PEComas and highlighted the use of selective internal radiation therapy in this case. The study was published in Therapeutic Advances in Medical Oncology. [Extracted from the article] |
