Architect Brandon Ingram designed a new house in Alpharetta, Georgia, inspired by the historic stone homes of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The exterior of the house combines stone, clapboard siding, and board-and-batten to create the impression of a structure that has existed for generations. Inside, the homeowner, Michelle Mentzer, used earthy tones and textures to create a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The house features a kitchen with ample seating, a family room with a Tennessee limestone fireplace, a primary suite with a vaulted ceiling, and a porch that offers a view of the centered pool. The design incorporates intentional texture and interest through the use of plaster, shiplap, wallpaper, and stone. The house also includes personalized touches, such as hidden messages written by family members on the studs before the Sheetrock was installed. The upstairs nook serves as a guest room and a space for the kids to have sleepovers. The layout of the house, with most areas being just one room deep, is a nod to old homes that allowed for easier heating and cooling. [Extracted from the article] |
