The authors discuss a study which described the effect of methadone on lowering opioid and sedative doses. Topics include median daily doses of fentanyl and methadone, midazolam and methadone, and propofol and methadone, baseline characteristics of the patients, and conclusion on the potential of methadone as a useful weaning strategy tool for adult patients receiving extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). |
