Abstrakt: The article discusses the importance of language in psychiatry and the challenges posed by linguistic diversity in medical education, particularly in India. It highlights the need for language training programs to ensure effective communication and quality care for patients. The article introduces the Clinical Linguistic Proficiency Program (CLPP), a novel approach implemented in a tertiary care institute in Karnataka, India, to train psychiatric residents in Kannada and Hindi. The CLPP follows an adult learning model, emphasizes peer learning, and focuses on speaking skills first. It includes classroom training, role-playing exercises, and simulated practice to enhance residents' communication skills and cultural competence.
