The article describes mCaptcha, an alternative proof-of-work of a Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers & Humans Apart (CAPTCHA) system, and offers information on its development and evaluation. The aim is to provide protection against denial of service (DoS) attacks. According to the article, mCaptcha uses a customized leaky-bucket-powered cache to track traffic. Issues such as security, usability, and privacy related to current CAPTCHA systems are also addressed. |
