A recent study conducted at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has revealed new findings on insulinoma, a rare insulin-secreting tumor that typically affects adults. The study focused on a 2-year-old child who presented with severe hypoglycemia and underwent various treatments for hyperinsulinism without significant improvement. After being transferred to the hospital, the child underwent imaging tests that identified a pancreatic lesion consistent with an insulinoma. Surgical intervention successfully removed the benign tumor, and a postoperative fasting test confirmed the child's cure. The study provides valuable insights into the diagnosis and treatment of insulinoma in young children. [Extracted from the article] |
