Abstrakt: A recent study investigated the role of sympathetic innervation of interscapular brown adipose tissue (IBAT) in the weight loss effects of oxytocin (OT) in diet-induced obese (DIO) rats. The researchers hypothesized that the activation of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) in IBAT contributes to the weight loss effects of OT. However, their findings suggest that sympathetic innervation of IBAT is not necessary for OT to increase brown adipose tissue thermogenesis and reduce body weight gain and adiposity in male DIO rats. This study provides insights into the mechanisms underlying the weight loss effects of OT in obesity. [Extracted from the article]
