Abstrakt: A new report presents fresh data on calcium channel blocking agents and their toxicity. The study, conducted by researchers at Parkview Health in Fort Wayne, Indiana, analyzed data from the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) registry to determine the mortality rate in adults treated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for calcium channel blocker (CCB) toxicity. The study found that severe acidosis and the need for pre-ECMO renal replacement therapy were key predictors of mortality. The researchers suggest that further research is needed to determine if early initiation of ECMO before a significant drop in pH can improve outcomes. [Extracted from the article]
