Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by Babol University of Medical Sciences in Iran investigated the prevalence of plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance (PMQR) genes in extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates. The study found that PMQR in ESBL-producing K. pneumoniae contributes to treatment failures, extended hospital stays, and increased mortality rates. The research highlights the urgent need for effective control measures, such as antimicrobial stewardship programs and drug-resistance surveillance, to prevent the spread of resistant isolates. The study provides valuable insights into the burden of PMQR determinants in ESBL-producing K. pneumoniae in northern Iran. [Extracted from the article]
