Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by researchers at the School of Veterinary Science examined the association between pet ownership and developmental outcomes in children and adolescents. The study utilized data from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC) and adjusted for confounding factors. The findings suggest that pet ownership may have a positive impact on social behavior and language development, but there is little evidence of associations with emotional health or cognitive outcomes. However, pet ownership was linked to lower educational attainment and certain behavioral issues. The study emphasizes the importance of considering confounding variables and challenges the popular belief that pet ownership universally benefits childhood development.
