Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington, has found that a specific clade of the bacterium Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fna C2) dominates the colorectal cancer (CRC) niche. The researchers generated closed genomes for 135 strains of Fna and identified 483 genetic factors that are enriched in CRC. They also discovered that Fna C2 has increased metabolic potential and colonization of the gastrointestinal tract. These findings provide insights into the genetic underpinnings of Fna C2's pathoadaptation to the CRC niche. [Extracted from the article]
