A recent study conducted by researchers at Hong Kong Baptist University explored the efficacy and safety of electroacupuncture (EA) in alleviating chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. The study involved 60 CRC patients undergoing oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy, who were randomly assigned to receive either EA or sham acupuncture (SA) once a week for 12 weeks. The results showed that the EA group experienced significant alleviation of CIPN severity during chemotherapy and improvements in physical, role, and social functions. However, further studies are needed to verify these effects and explore the potential role of EA in chronic CIPN. [Extracted from the article] |
