A recent study conducted by researchers at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institute in Langen, Germany, has provided new insights into allergies and potential treatments. The study focused on the immune-modulating properties of different b-glucans on myeloid dendritic cells (mDCs), which play a crucial role in allergic immune responses. The researchers found that the tested b-glucans activated specific receptors and induced cytokine secretion in mDCs, suggesting their potential as adjuvants for allergy treatment. The study also demonstrated that certain b-glucans suppressed allergen-induced cytokine secretion in T cells, indicating their ability to modulate immune responses. Further research is needed to explore the therapeutic applications of b-glucans in allergy treatment. [Extracted from the article] |
