Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a gas that is not detectable by human senses, as it is odorless, colorless, and tasteless. The impact of CO can result in poisoning and even death. IoT system is a major problem which has to be resolved to get a good performance of a Carbon Monoxide gas detector with applying MQ-2 sensor. The objective of this research is to provide information on the level of CO gas in a room. Warnings are triggered when the sensor readings exceed the normal level of 50 ppm, with an alarm buzzer serving as an alert. An IoT system is implemented in this study, utilizing the Telegram application to monitor the CO gas levels in real-time without the need to observe the LCD display on the device. The WiFi module used is ESP 8266. The research data collected from a simulated room measuring 30 cm x 30 cm x 30 cm yielded the lowest CO gas level at 0 ppm and the highest level at 73.18 ppm. The obtained error value is 3.34% with an average power supply value of 4.8 volts. The highest recorded measurement during cigarette smoke exposure without a filter was 73.15 ppm, with an error value of 3.14%. The lowest measurement during the burning of insecticides resulted in a CO level of 8.14 ppm, with an error value of 2.8%. The conclusion drawn from this research is that the device performs effectively, as it can accurately measure the CO gas levels with different substances. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
