This article discusses a study that evaluated the impact protection provided by different types of helmets in a steel plant environment. The study found that Type II helmets, which have impact liners, provided significantly more protection than Type I helmets and climbing-style safety helmets. The article emphasizes the importance of selecting helmets based on their ability to meet specific standards rather than their style. The study recommends choosing Type II helmets that are fully compliant with relevant standards to prevent traumatic brain injuries in the workforce. The study did not evaluate rotational forces, but suggests that future research should consider helmets with rotational force mitigation technology. [Extracted from the article] |
