Abstrakt: The People’s Republic of China is currently a leading actor in the system of international relations. Having great potential, it actively participates in international security cooperation. In the context of solving the tasks of our state in the security sphere, it is relevant to carry out a retrospective analysis of the regulatory and legal foundations of China’s regional cooperation in the security sphere. The source base of the presented research was the legislative acts of the People’s Republic of China in the field of ensuring national security and those documents outlining the modern foreign policy doctrine of the state. The article also presents an attempt to conduct a retrospective analysis of the security cooperation of the People’s Republic of China at the current stage. The main directions of cooperation and the interests of the PRC in the security sphere at the regional level are outlined. China’s public authorities strive to fully protect the state and citizens from modern threats (internal and external), using the most effective protection mechanisms, adopting and improving legislation in the field of national security. In the field of development of security cooperation in the region, China is trying to initiate discussions on topical issues of regional security both at the bilateral and multilateral levels. Since 2013, a number of steps have been implemented to develop cooperation in the field of security, which have been recognized as effective. The PRC’s strategic goal is to create a new regional security system (exclusively Asian), free of alliances, mostly focused on internal security issues, based on Chinese economic power. These goals are not new, but Xi Jinping has increasingly focused on how to implement and institutionalize his vision of a regional international security system. China’s strategy for the formation of a new regional security network is currently in the process of implementation, and it is too early to talk about its final political results and consequences for the system of regional international relations.
