A recent study conducted by researchers at Lincoln Memorial University examined the incidence and outcomes of Achilles tendon ruptures in men and women. The study found that men had a higher incidence of sports-related ruptures compared to women, likely due to their higher participation in ball sports. Additionally, the study revealed that women had poorer functional outcomes and were at a higher risk for postoperative complications and revision surgery. The findings suggest that there may be sex-specific risk factors and outcomes associated with Achilles tendon ruptures. [Extracted from the article] |
