Abstrakt: A study conducted at Phramongkutklao Hospital and College of Medicine examined the survival rates of elderly individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who underwent surgery for intertrochanteric fracture. The study found that CKD stage 5 was associated with the highest mortality rate and the shortest median survival time during the 9-year follow-up period. Risk factors for mortality included heart disease, operative time over 60 minutes, presence of pulmonary embolism, and poor to fair Harris hip score. The researchers recommend that high-risk patients focus on long-term care planning and seek counseling from healthcare providers and families. [Extracted from the article]
