Abstrakt: A new report discusses research findings on hyperglycemia and its relationship to insulin pump therapy. The study found that interruption of insulin flow can lead to a rise in blood glucose levels and blood beta-hydroxybutyrate ketone levels. The research identified eight relevant studies that measured these levels following suspension of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion. The findings suggest that moderate to severe hyperglycemia can occur within 5-9 hours, and moderate to severe ketonemia can occur within 7-12 hours after insulin pump occlusion. Patients and clinicians should be aware of these timing factors when considering the risks of developing metabolic complications. [Extracted from the article]
