Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas, examined the issue of physical violence and aggression (PVA) in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients without dementia. The study found that while PVA is relatively rare in PD, it can be a significant management issue associated with certain premorbid characteristics and antiparkinsonian motor treatments. The researchers recommend further assessment of PVA in PD, including self-report and informant-based questionnaires, to better understand its frequency, causes, risk factors, and outcomes. The study was supported by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Clinical Science Research and Development Service. [Extracted from the article]
