A recent qualitative study conducted by researchers at UMass Chan Medical School explored the barriers and facilitators to home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) in pregnant women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP). The study found that facilitators to HBPM included understanding the purpose of HBPM, prior experience with healthcare, free access to HBPM equipment, and external support. Barriers to HBPM included uncertainty about the process, accessing and using the equipment, and the belief that clinic monitoring was sufficient. The researchers concluded that reducing barriers and increasing facilitators to HBPM is crucial for improving outcomes for HDP. [Extracted from the article] |
