A study conducted by Doctors Without Borders in Abakaliki, Nigeria, aimed to assess the validity and feasibility of a rapid diagnostic test (RDT) for Lassa fever. The study found that the Pan-Lassa RDT had high specificity but low sensitivity, falling far below the target of 90%. The researchers concluded that there is an urgent need for better diagnostics for Lassa fever in low-resource settings to improve patient outcomes. The study was published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases. [Extracted from the article] |
