A recent study conducted by researchers at GITAM Dental College and Hospital has found that epidermal cysts, which are benign and rare, can occur throughout the body. The study focused on a 27-year-old female patient who presented with a cystic lesion in the oral cavity. Initially, the provisional diagnosis was odontogenic keratocyst, but histopathological examination revealed an epidermoid cyst. The researchers concluded that epidermoid cysts should be considered in the differential diagnosis of radiolucent lesions of the jaws.
