A recent study conducted by Aga Khan University in Pakistan highlights the significant burden of oral diseases in the country and the need for preventive measures. The study focuses on the dental hygiene profession in Pakistan and identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats associated with it through a SWOT analysis. The analysis reveals the need for robust advocacy, increased collaboration with dentists, opportunities for higher education, and the establishment of proper legislative frameworks to improve the profession and prevent professional transgression. The study provides valuable insights into the current state of the dental hygiene profession in Pakistan and proposes evidence-based strategic changes for future improvement.
