Abstrakt: A recent report from the Universidad Simon Bolivar in Colombia provides new insights into lupus nephritis, a significant immune-mediated kidney disease associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The study examined 401 patients with SLE and lupus nephritis and identified clinical and immunological factors associated with disease progression. The findings showed that patients with initial proteinuria greater than 2 g/day were more likely to be non-responders to treatment. Mortality was associated with higher levels of serum creatinine and thrombocytopenia. The research suggests that identifying these factors can lead to more targeted interventions and improved outcomes for patients with lupus nephritis. [Extracted from the article]
