The article discusses the claim made by Donald Trump and his GOP allies that noncitizens are voting in large numbers and potentially influencing election outcomes. However, there is no evidence to support this claim, with only 85 cases of noncitizens charged with voting out of 2 billion votes cast. It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections, and the GOP's push for voter integrity laws and targeting of voter-registration groups is seen as an attempt to intimidate naturalized citizens and their U.S.-born ethnic relatives from voting. The article argues that the real election interference comes from Republicans who want to deter U.S. citizens from voting. [Extracted from the article] |
