This document is an introduction to a special issue of the journal Lexicography, focusing on the intersection of lexicography, artificial intelligence (AI), and dictionary users. The issue features four selected papers presented at a conference on Asian lexicography in 2023. The first direction discussed is the integration of AI, specifically GPT models, into lexicography to enhance productivity and efficiency. The second direction explores the role of lexicography in the era of large-scale language models (LLMs) and the need to expand linguistic resources and address ethical judgments. The document also highlights the impact of AI on dictionary users and the utility of dictionaries in comparison to AI technology.
