This article discusses the rise of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement and the role of digital activism in supporting social justice movements. It also explores the concept of performative activism, which refers to shallow or self-serving support for social justice causes. The article examines how corporate activism during the BLM movement has been labeled as performative and discusses the potential impact on organizations internally and externally. The need for further research on corporate activism and how to avoid accusations of performativity is highlighted, with the goal of implementing effective and sustainable activism efforts.
