A study conducted by researchers at Nitte (Deemed to be University) in Mangalore, India, explored the relationship between oral health status and glycemic control levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The study included 70 individuals with T2DM and found that those with poor glycemic control had a higher prevalence of xerostomia (dry mouth), hyposalivation (reduced saliva production), and periodontitis (gum disease) compared to those with good control. The researchers concluded that individuals with poor glycemic control for T2DM have compromised oral health, leading to a decline in their oral health status. [Extracted from the article] |
