Researchers at Henan Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine have conducted a study on Sjogren's syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that primarily affects the salivary and lacrimal glands, leading to symptoms of dry eyes and mouth. The study found that the interaction between T and B cells plays a significant role in the disease. CD4+ T cells in the salivary glands cause tissue destruction, while B cells are excessively activated and produce autoantibodies that attack self-tissues. Therapies targeting T and B cells are being researched to alleviate symptoms and improve the quality of life for patients. [Extracted from the article] |
