Abstrakt: A study conducted by researchers at Shandong University explores the impact of chronic diseases on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of middle-aged and older adults, as well as the role of physical activity (PA) and degree of digitization in this relationship. The study, which utilized data from the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, found that the severity of chronic disease has a significant negative effect on HRQoL. However, physical activity was found to mediate and mask this impact, and the degree of digitization moderated the relationship between chronic disease, physical activity, and HRQoL. The study suggests promoting physical activity among older individuals with chronic diseases and guiding them in the proper use of the internet to establish healthy behaviors.
