A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Basrah explores the potential of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) bacteriocins as anti-cancer agents. The researchers highlight the need for new cancer treatments that are both safe and effective, as current treatments like chemotherapy can harm healthy cells. LAB bacteriocins have shown promise in previous studies, effectively targeting cancer cells without affecting healthy cells. However, further research is needed to fully understand their potential, determine appropriate dosage and delivery methods, and conduct clinical trials to evaluate their effectiveness and safety in human patients. The study also discusses the constraints and limitations of using bacteriocins as anti-cancer agents. [Extracted from the article] |
