Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Arizona College of Medicine aimed to assess the prevalence and associated risks of burnout among pediatric neurosurgeons. The study surveyed members of the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons (ASPN) and found that 49% of respondents reported feelings of burnout, with females being at higher risk. Factors associated with burnout included salary, more than 10 days on call per month, electronic medical record stressors, and work-life incongruity. Despite these challenges, respondents still found pediatric neurosurgery to be a meaningful career. The study highlights the need for recognition of burnout symptoms and the implementation of changes to address this issue. [Extracted from the article]
