A recent study conducted in Karnataka, India compared the effectiveness of two predictors, the acromio-axillo-suprasternal notch index (AASI) and the thyromental height test (TMHT), in predicting difficult visualization of the larynx during intubation. The study involved 300 patients and found that AASI was less sensitive than TMHT in predicting difficult visualization of the larynx. There was no significant correlation between the two predictors. The study highlights the importance of finding accurate predictors for difficult intubation to improve patient safety during anesthesia. [Extracted from the article] |
