A recent study conducted at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Center in Kerala, India, aimed to assess the impact of frailty on the quality of life (QOL) of cardiac surgical patients. The study found that QOL scores in cardiac patients were lower than in the general population, and frail patients benefited from cardiac surgery as it improved their QOL. The research suggests that an improvement in QOL is increasingly seen as a quality indicator after surgical interventions, including cardiac surgery. This pilot study provides valuable insights, but further research is needed to confirm these findings. [Extracted from the article] |
