Abstrakt: | A recent report discusses research conducted at the University of Cape Town on the efficacy of high-dose isoniazid in treating tuberculosis caused by katG-mutated Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb). The study found that high-dose isoniazid had negligible bactericidal activity against katG-mutated M.tb in the majority of participants. The research suggests that further investigation is needed to determine the effectiveness of high-dose isoniazid in treating multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. The study was funded by various organizations, including the National Institutes of Health in the United States. [Extracted from the article] |
