A study conducted by researchers at the University of Novi Sad in Serbia analyzed the consumption trends of Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) drugs and dietary supplements (DS) in the country. The study found that the consumption of ALA drugs significantly increased from 2010 to 2016, with a notable drop in 2017. On the other hand, the consumption of ALA DS surged by 156.67% from 2018 to 2020, with a significant increase observed at the end of 2020. The researchers attributed this increase to the COVID-19 epidemic. They emphasized the need for stricter regulations on DS to ensure consumer safety and information. [Extracted from the article] |
