This article examines the representation of Romani women in film, focusing on two Marlene Dietrich films, "Golden Earrings" and "A Touch of Evil." It acknowledges that historically, Romani women have often been portrayed in a negative light, perpetuating stereotypes of sexual aggression and promiscuity. However, these two films take a more positive approach, depicting Romani women as allies who challenge anti-Roma attitudes. While the films still contain elements of stereotyping and hypersexualization, they also present Romani women as heroic figures and suggest a more progressive future based on intercultural understanding.
