This article discusses a prospective study on the use of transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) for diagnosing endometriosis, specifically focusing on deep endometriosis (DE), ovarian endometriosis (OE), and superficial endometriosis (SE). The study used the International Deep Endometriosis Analysis (IDEA) consensus and updated guidelines to assess the accuracy of TVS. The results showed that TVS had strong diagnostic performance for DE and OE, but diagnosing SE remained challenging. The authors suggest that while TVS can be used as a primary diagnostic tool for DE and OE, additional diagnostic methods are needed to confidently rule out SE. [Extracted from the article] |
