This article discusses a study that aimed to predict Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) item numbers for endometriosis surgery using ultrasound. The study found that the ultrasound-based staging system had weak agreement with the MBS item numbers and tended to overestimate the stage. However, when the ultrasound and surgical groups were divided into high and low stages, the system showed promise in predicting surgical complexity. The authors suggest that this could improve surgical planning and financial consent. [Extracted from the article] |
